“Gerald Anderson visits wounded soldiers from Marawi clashes”

To pay homage to our valiant combatants who fought for the freedom and safety of the people in Marawi City, Gerald Anderson visited the wounded soldiers confined at the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Medical Center in Quezon City last week.

In his Instagram account, the Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin lead actor uploaded a video clip of his sojourn with Charlie Puth’s “One Call Away” as the background song, where he and his friends are seen distributing goodies to the soldiers and chatting with them.

Aside from that, he also showed to them the trailer of his upcoming indie flick entitled AWOL, in which he portrays an ex-military officer on the loose over the foul play that happened to his troops. In the caption, he said that hearing their stories really inspired him and he’s so elated to bring them high morale after everything they did for the country.

AWOL is one of the 12 participants in this year’s Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino that will be spearheaded by the Film Development Council of the Philippines on August 16-22.

It can be recalled that Gerald’s affiliation with the military began in his 2009 drama series Tayong Dalawa where he played as David “JR” Garcia Jr., a Philippine Military Academy (PMA) cadet, alongside Jake Cuenca.

Just last year, he and his brother Ken were inducted as lieutenants of Philippine Coast Guard, following the footsteps of their father Captain Gerald Anderson Sr. They are now part of the PCG’s K9 Special Support Squadron, an auxiliary unit established to support the K9 search-and-rescue capability of the country.

He also celebrated his 10th year anniversary in show business last year by staging a military-themed boot camp through which his soldier dreams materialized and he was able to bond with his friends and loyal fans.
