“Gretchen Ho on Robi Domingo dating again: ‘I’m happy for him’”

The former couple shared the stage during the launch of #OPPOF9 last August 15 at the Shangri-La Hotel at The Fort. Robi was one of the event’s hosts, as well as one of the brand ambassadors. The two were also joined by Glaiza de Castro, Sanya Lopez, Julia Barretto, and Joshua Garcia.

Gretchen’s reaction to Robi’s dating status was all positive. “I’m happy for him,” she said. “I’m really, genuinely happy for him. I think we all deserve to be happy.”

Admittedly single as of press time, Gretchen felt no pressure and said she only has good things to look forward to. She even looped in Glaiza and Sanya for a “singles selfie” during the program. At the end of the day, we want the best for each other.

At medyo nararamdaman ko na rin minsan yon and it doesn’t bother me at all.

“I think kung ganun yung disposisyon mo, you’ll be fine.

I will never retire, hangga’t humihinga tayo,” diin niya sa PUSH.

“I will never stop being an entertainer because that’s my life. Hindi ako mabubuhay ng walang ano… But I’ve to admit, mahilig akong magnegosyo,” dagdag niya.

“I have restaurants (Hungry Samurai – kung saan ginanap ang kanyang pocket interview). I have Ryu Ramen, I have A Team, we produce concerts, we’re co-producing films. And then, meron kaming negosyo ni Regine, it’s called Green Food. It’s gourmet tuyo na mina-market namin ngayon at sobrang mabenta. Then I have a sound and light company called Thunder and Lightning, we’re going to use that din sa Araneta concert ko at nagsu-supply din kami sa ibang concerts and parties.

“EXCLUSIVE: Lee O’Brian on having more kids with Pokwang: ‘I don’t want to push her’”

As part of this year’s Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino entry Signal Rock where he plays a special role, Lee O’Brien said he is happy to be busy this year. “This year I got more indie films coming out. I got a guesting role on a pretty big film too. And then I’m still doing my blog too with Mamang (Pokwang). We’re doing all the cooking. Poklee Cooking on YouTube,” he told PUSH during the Signal Rock celebrity screening held last August 15 in Quezon City.

After moving to Manila more than two years ago, Lee said his Tagalog has definitely improved but he’s still far from being fluent. “Okay lang. Hindi sobrang mabuti, hindi sobrang maganda pero araw-araw maraming practice, araw-araw maraming mas mabuti sa bagong araw (laughs),” he said.

With his baby daughter Malia gaining more and more fans on social media, Lee said he will not be the one to stop her if ever she decides to join showbiz someday. “I want to be there for her no matter what, to support her in everything. So I will definitely be a stage dad. Definitely I want her to pursue what she wants so if that is performing, more power to her. She’s got a great start to that. But beyond that, she’s got so many people that care about her and I’m just happy as a father that my daughter has that kind of support coming into this world,” he explained.

With his partner Pokwang turning 45 this month, Lee said he has taken that into consideration when it comes to plans for another baby in the future. “My opinion is Mamang at her age, I don’t want to push her. It’s incredible that she can produce. Look at her string of children, they’re amazing people. But I don’t want to jeopardize anything. If she’s down for it, we can definitely make it happen and I hope it does. But it’s not like guaranteed. It’s not a forced issue because it’s a different game. We’re not spring chickens (laughs),” he said.

“REVIEW: Chito Roño’s ‘Signal Rock’ gives a delicious and bittersweet slice of life in Samar”

Signal Rock was named after a giant rock formation on the island of Samar where the only cellphone signal can be found and where locals would have to climb high up just to be able to communicate with the outside world. This is also the place where Intoy (Christian Bables) goes every morning to receive a call from his sister who is all the way in Finland.

The movie starts off uneventfully, with Intoy doing nothing unexpected of his provincial life, going to church, spending time with family, playing basketball, emceeing small town dances, and being an all-around errand boy for the community. Christian Bables makes a significant mark on the big screen with his role, which guarantees will not just make you forget how effectively he played Paolo Ballesteros’s gay best friend in Die Beautiful, but will also see him in an even more masculine light.

Trouble in Intoy’s family starts when his sister becomes a victim of domestic abuse and gets into a custody battle with her foreigner husband and Intoy must find a way to produce documents that prove she has assets on the island. This sets off a series of events that not only shows how much Filipinos value family, but also how a community, whether related or not by blood, can consider themselves as one big extended family.

Those who are used to watching Chito Roño’s films like The Ghost Bride, Feng Shui, and The Healing will not be disappointed as Signal Rock promises to be just as engaging, and evenly-paced, even if its set on a small remote island that still practices nightly lights out throughout the entire town. But to write Signal Rock off as just a family drama would be a misnomer as the film also manages to showcase to the audience the director’s home province of Samar. From the majestic rock formations, to the quiet lakes, and easygoing island life, Signal Rock shows viewers the beauty in that kind of simplicity.

Aniya, “I am still clinging with them. Yeah, dahil siguro sa Filipino values. I think I’ll just move out when I want to get married na which is matagal pa, super tagal pa.”

For now, I want to concentrate on myself. Parang medyo selfish, pero in a good way, na parang… and I’m still young,” sey pa niya.

“I’m more comfortable now than before, especially because of the fact na I’m more comfortable with myself and I’m working na din with my Tagalog para mas madali sa mga syuting and sa mga lines. Before kasi I was more scared, now I’m having fun.”

Eh, bakit ka scared?

“I guess, the comparison din with my parents kasi, the pressure. And also coming Binibini, parang they always expect the beauty queens to go into acting or to hosting, so parang I want to do it differently. I want to really give my all into the art of acting and not disappoint my parents,” tugon ng dalaga.

“I do want to pursue singing pero acting muna ang uunahin ko. For now I’m having singing lessons muna once a week para ma-develop pa yung voice ko, para more powerful,” sambit niya.

“I think, parang yon yung misconception ng mga tao na yung opera is for mga class A lang or elite, pero I don’t think it’s that way because I think music is for everyone.

“So I think what I can do is classical crossover, parang i-mix yung pop at classical,” katwiran pa ng dalaga.

“I’m very happy kasi I see the posts of my friends and family and it’s nice to see them proud of how I’ve become to think I was a different story before, now that I am kind of flourishing in a way,” huling pahayag ng former beauty queen.
