MANILA, Philippines — “I wish I could have done more, but always remember we did our best!”
Sen. Grace Poe’s son, Brian Poe Llamanzares, wrote this in a letter shared by his mother on Instagram on Sunday.
Poe, who is seeking to be reelected to the Senate, received a framed photo of her and her son alongside a handwritten letter in celebration of Mother’s Day.
“This is my favorite picture from the campaign, because it reminds me that we did have fun this 2019,” Brian wrote in the letter.
“No matter how hard things got, we always found reasons to laugh and smile,” he added.
Brian also reminded her mother that whatever the outcome of the election would be, she should remember that she had fun during the campaign season.
“I hope the picture reminds you of all the things that made you laugh and smile in the campaign,” Brian said.
“I wish I could have done more, but always remember we did our best. So smile and remember all the love our country showed you,” he added.
In response to the letter, Poe thanked her son and expressed how proud she is to be his mother.
“I became a mother because of you. Thank you for everything you have done for me,” Poe said on Instagram.
According to the latest Pulse Asia survey released on Saturday, two days before the elections, slid to second to third place with a 47.7 percent voter preference.
