PNP-AKG nabs 4 men, rescues abducted Korean national

The Philippine National Police’s Anti-kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) has rescued a Korean national and arrested his four abductors at the parking lot of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) in Intramuros, and in a subsequent raid in Ermita, Manila.

In his report to the PNP Chief Ronald dela Rosa, PNP-AKG Acting Director Senior Superintendent Glenn Dumlao said the victim, Lee Jung Dae, was rescued last November 25 after he was forcibly taken from his home in Balibago, Angeles City, Pampanga on November 24.

According to Dumlao, the three suspects identified as Cha Jae Young (Korean national), Cha Dae Sun (Korean), and Raymond Flores (Filipino), were apprehended while guarding the victim inside a car parked near the BI office in Manila.

The fourth suspect, Kim Min Kwan a.k.a Michael Lim (Korean), meanwhile, was arrested in a follow-up operation along Padre Faura, also Manila, adjacent to his condominium unit at Robinsons Tower 1 in Ermita.

Dumlao disclosed that the suspects have conspired together to spot and conduct the surveillance on Lee, who operates and owns a restaurant in Angeles City, Pampanga.

According to PNP-AKG, the suspects initially demanded a ransom amounting to P1.2 million, which was delivered by the victim’s girlfriend at Marquee Mall in Angeles City.

But the victim was not released and was instead transported to Intramuros, as they asked for another P1.2 million payment.

The victim’s girlfriend, at this point, sought the help of authorities, who consequently conducted an entrapment operation against the suspects.      /kga
