Woody and the rest of the gang are BACK!
The buzz surrounding Toy Story 4 has been building for quite some time now. As far back as March 2015, Pixar president Jim Morris described the new addition to the beloved franchise as a “love story” that will focus on the relationship between Bo Peep and Woody, but plenty of time has passed since then, and it seems the story has changed quite a bit.
In the first teaser trailer for the latest installment in the beloved animated franchise, Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the toys welcome a new addition to Bonnie’s room: Forky, a spork-turned-craft-project who doesn’t want to be there, played by Veep‘s Tony Hale. According to director Josh Cooley, “The world of Toy Story is built upon the idea that everything in the world has a purpose. A toy’s purpose is to be there for its child. But what about toys that are made out of other objects? Forky is a toy that Bonnie made out of a disposable spork, so he’s facing a crisis.”
The second teaser trailer introduces Ducky and Bunny, two carnival prizes voiced by comedians Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele. In a third teaser, which aired during the 2019 Super Bowl, Buzz is seen trapped in an amusement prize alongside Ducky and Bunny, who don’t seem to appreciate the new competition.
Watch the new teaser above, and keep an eye out for the film when it hits theaters June 21, 2019.
